The second T20I match between India and New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland was won by visitors. India took a 2-0 lead in the series courtesy of a brilliant run-chase both the games so far. The home side got the chance to bat first once again in the second match but this time they could not even surpass the 150-runs landmark.
Some fine bowling performances from the duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah ensured that New Zealand get to only 132 runs in their 20 overs. Shardul Thakur was the one who turned the momentum in India’s favor with the wicket of Martin Guptill however, there was a brutal collision between Thakur and the other opener of the Blackcaps, Colin Munro during that over.
Shardul Thakur and Colin Munro bash into each other
New Zealand got off to a flier once again thanks to their openers Martin Guptill and Colin Munro. They had a healthy run rate in the powerplay overs and they targeted Shardul Thakur’s over to score the boundaries. The Mumbai-based bowler came in to bowl the final powerplay over of New Zealand’s innings and on the third ball of that over, he directly bashed into Munro.
The left-handed batsman tried to steal a run by just placing a ball. Thakur went to pick the ball and throw it onto the stumps however, under the pressure of the situation, both the players did not notice each other as they engaged in a brutal collision.

India lose the wickets of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma
Although the target of 133 runs is not that big, New Zealand has the bowling attack to defend that target. Kane Williamson has got a perfect idea about his bowlers and the Kiwis have won several low-scoring encounters courtesy of the team’s bowlers. The home side’s most experienced bowler, Tim Southee looked in red hot form as he has got rid of Indian skipper Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma. However, KL Rahul, Iyer and Dube finished the game for India with a 7-wicket win.
