Former Australian cricketer Justin Langer batted for out-of-favor Australian batsman Shaun Marsh. Marsh has been in and out of the national set-up due to his injuries. His vulnerability to the injuries has caused selection conundrums for the Australian team in the recent past. Shaun Marsh ended up injuring his finger during the first Test of the South Africa’s tour to Australia in early November.

The poor outing combined with his injury saw him being dropped from the Test side. Now, he has reportedly recovered from his injury and set to make a comeback in the Big Bash League for the Perth Scorchers. However, it is unlikely that he will have enough time to prove his mettle for the third Test against Pakistan. So his obvious choice becomes the India tour.

Australia are scheduled to play 4 Tests in India in February-March next year. Justin Langer, the coach of Perth Scorchers, believes that Shaun Marsh deserves to be in the squad that would tour India. As per the quotes in theroar.com.au, Langer cited the prolific Test and T20I records of Marsh as a testimony of his mettle.

“He has to go to India. There’s no doubt about that. Look at his record in the Australian Test team. And we know he’s one of the most-destructive T20 players in the world. He’ll use that, I imagine, to play for one-day selection,” he quoted.

Clearly, Langer believes that Shaun Marsh is capable of forcing his way through to the national side in all formats of the game. Marsh will return to the fore for the Perth Scorchers in the game against the Sydney Sixers at the SCG on Tuesday.

Interestingly, former Australian captain Ian Chappell has recently asked the selectors to look beyond the injury vulnerable Shaun and rather focus on the younger lot in the country.
