Sachin Tendulkar-brand phone to hit the market soon

Mumbai Indians mentor Sachin Tendulkar is busy with the Indian Premier League (IPL). His side is at the top of the points table and are certain to qualify for the playoffs. Amidst the IPL, Tendulkar was seen in a video which surfaced on the internet in which he signalled something is scheduled to happen in 2 days.

Tendulkar, in association with Smartron – an Indian IT company, is all set to launch an exclusive smartphone named srt.phone on Wednesday. Smarton is promoting the launch heavily which will feature the master himself unveiling the srt.phone.

Sachin Tendulkar has been involved with Smartron for a while now and even disbursed an undisclosed amount to the company for its branding. It is said that the former India cricketer is also a stakeholder as well as the brand ambassador of the company. The 44-year-old was also present for the launch of t.book t.phone and tron.x last year in April.

The information about the hardware or the software of the Sachin Tendulkar-branded phone hasn’t been disclosed at all. It will be the second smartphone launched by Smartron and will be available exclusively on Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart.

Since Smartron started operations in 2014, they don’t have too many products but each of their launched products are designed and engineered in India. The company is headed by Mahesh Lingareddy, who is also the CEO and co-founder a US based company: Soft Machines Inc. Recently, Smartron acquired the services of two ex Motorola employees: Amit Boni and Sanjay Jha.

Smartron announced the launch of this iconic phone through their Twitter handle. The Tweet consists a picture of the great Sachin Tendulkar and is headlined as ‘Something big is on the way’. The picture revealed the launch date as well as the phone’s name.

Tendulkar is regarded as the best batsman to have ever played the game. His exploits on the cricketing field are known to many, but will he be able to replicate the success in life outside cricket?

Nevertheless, Sachin is all set to put his best foot forward with Smartron, who promise a lot but will face stern competition in India’s highly competitive mobile industry.
