Australia had a shaky start, losing Matthew Short early and scoring at a run-a-ball rate in the initial five overs. However, Josh Inglis joined Steven Smith at the crease, and together they aggressively attacked the Indian bowlers. They formed an outstanding 130-run partnership for the second wicket, with Inglis reaching a superb century, scoring 110 off 50 balls, and Smith contributing a solid fifty with 52 runs. In pursuit of the target, India faced an early setback as opener Ruturaj Gaikwad was run out without facing a delivery. Yashasvi Jaiswal looked promising but managed only 21 runs off eight balls. Captain Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan then stitched a remarkable 112-run partnership for the third wicket, bringing India back into contention. Ishan departed after playing an excellent innings of 58.

Suryakumar Yadav continued to dominate the Australian bowlers, playing a brilliant knock of 80 runs off 42 balls, including nine fours and four sixes. Towards the end, Rinku Singh's quickfire 28 off 14 balls secured a two-wicket victory for India, giving them a 1-0 lead in the series.
