IPL 2024: Ashish Nehra picks Sidhu Moosewala's 295 as favorite Punjabi track

The spirit in the Gujarat Titans camp would be high since the past few days, with everyone getting geared up for the game against Punjab Kings. The match 17 of the ongoing seventeenth edition of the Indian Premier League is being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Thursday, April 04.

Interestingly, on the eve of the match, a similar vibe was floating around the Narendra Modi stadium, with a camera set up in front of which almost every player was seen giving their own preferences of Punjabi songs, owing to their encounter with the Punjab-based franchise the following day.

GT shared the video on social media, wherein the squad members are named their favourite Punjabi tracks. Notably, Arjan Vailly (from Animal), Wishes (by Diljit Dosanjh), and King Sh*t (by Shubh) were named as the go-to Punjabi tunes of Rashid Khan, Jayant Yadav, and Rahul Tewatia.

However, the person who seemed the most enthusiastic for this activity was head coach Ashish Nehra, sporting his characteristic look with his cap worn unconventionally, who was seen in a jovial and light-hearted mood, energetically appearing in front of the camera, often seen playfully interrupting his colleagues while it was their turn to let everyone know of their favourite Punjabi song.

During the video, it could be seen that the former Indian cricketer was contemplating his choice, when he overheard someone suggesting 'Dil Le Gayi Kudi Gujarat Di' as Nehra's favourite song. The head coach jokingly responded that just because his wife is a Gujarati, doesn't mean that he likes that particular song.

"Nahi nahi, meri biwi Gujarati hai, iska matlab yeh thodi ki yeh gaana pasand hai Dil Le Gayi Kudi Gujarat Di, shaadi usse hui hai, waise toh bade hi alag hai hum (just because my wife is a Gujarati, that doesn't imply that I like Dil Le Gayi Kudi Gujarat Di, it's true that I'm married to her, but we're quite different from each other)," Nehra was heard as saying in the video.

After much consideration, Nehra decided to proceed with Late Sidhu Moosewala's chart-topping '295', a song which was released in 2021 as his favourite Punjabi song. The 44-year-old amplified that the chartbuster was the best Punjabi song there could ever exist.

"Sidhu Moosewala, '295'. '295' bhoolna mat, the best song hai 295, best Punjabi song rahega '295' (Don't forget '295' by Sidhu Moosewala, it's the best song, '295' is the best Punjabi song to exist)," the cricketer-turned-coach jestingly stated.

Titans favourites in tie against Punjab

Although GT have a lower net run rate than PBKS, they hold a higher position on the points table. The Shubman Gill-led side are currently sitting fifth on the table, against the visiting Punjab, who lie seventh.

Despite GT being handed a thumping 63-run loss against the Chennai Super Kings in their second match of their season, they came back strongly against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, with them winning by a convincing margin of 7 wickets against SRH.

With the two franchises meeting three times ever since the inception of GT in 2022, GT has won twice with PBKS winning a sole game. In their last match-up in 2023, GT beat PBKS by six wickets with one ball to spare.
