IPL 2024: Ishan Kishan engages in antics, impersonates Lasith Malinga to have fun

Ahead of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), Mumbai Indians’ camp seems to be having a lot of fun ahead of the tournament. With every fan focused on newly appointed skipper Hardik Pandya, the mood in the camp before the competition seems to be upbeat. 

The same upbeat mood was accompanied by star Indian batter Ishan Kishan joining in on the antics. The 25-year-old attempted to play the doppelganger of the side’s bowling coach, Lasith Malinga, during a training session. The clip of the same was shared by Mumbai Indians on their social media handles. Ishan was seen putting on a coloured wig similar to the hairstyle of Malinga. Ishan flaunted his appearance and even tried to mimic Malinga’s arm action.

“Malinga banne ka tareeka bohot 𝒌𝒆𝒛𝒖𝒂𝒍 hai Ishan Bhai,” Mumbai Indians captioned their post on their 'X' handle.

Mumbai Indians aim to go for sixth IPL title

There is no doubt that Mumbai Indians are one of the most successful sides in the history of the IPL. Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, the side has won the tournament five times and will now take the field with all-rounder Hardik Pandya leading the franchise. Speaking of the side’s IPL 2023 performance, Mumbai Indians reached the knockout stages of the competition, eventually losing out to Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 of the tournament. 

However, as the IPL 2023 approaches, Mumbai Indians will aim to put in their best performance and aim to go all the way. It is worth noting that Mumbai Indians take on Gujarat Titans in their first game of the IPL 2024. Both sides will face off at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on Sunday, March 24. Under the new captaincy of Pandya, it could be interesting to see how Mumbai will fare against the one-time champions.
