A sense of devotion has swept over the entire India as the nation is eagerly waiting for the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Mandir to get underway on Monday, January 22 in Ayodhya. The sacred event is expected to be attended by several eminent personalities of the cricketing fraternity who will be gracing the momentous occasion of Ram Lalla’s (Child Lord Ram) homecoming.

The fervour for Ram Mandir’s consecration ceremony has even crossed boundaries as South African cricketer Keshav Maharaj also extended his good wishes for the mega event. “Namaste Everyone. I just want to wish Mahesh and the Hindu community and South Africa all the best for the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya tomorrow. May it bring peace, harmony and spiritual enlightenment to all. Jai Shree Ram,” said Maharaj in a video message posted on his Instagram story.

Notably, Maharaj has his roots in India and practices the Hindu religion. The 33-year-old is often seen indulging in Hindu rituals off the field and has even sported the religious symbol ‘Om’ on his bat in some matches. Whenever Maharaj comes into bat in South Africa, he’s welcomed with the holy hymn of Lord Rama known as ‘Ram Siya Ram’.

He was even asked by India wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul about his entry song in the recent three-match T20I series between India and South Africa. The left-arm spinner replied with a smile and a nod to Rahul’s query. During the second Test in Centurion, star India batter Virat Kohli even impersonated Lord Ram’s iconic ‘Bow and Arrow’ pose on Maharaj’s entry in the first innings and joined his hands together to bow down to the almighty.
