Virat Kohli has found his mojo with the bat as the 34-year-old has been scoring consistently in the Indian Premier League 2023. He was seen celebrating with his traditional roar after Mohammed Siraj dismissed Atharva Taide in the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings in Mohali on April 20. Notably, batting first, RCB started really well as ‘King’ Kohli smashed 59 runs off 47 deliveries while Faf du Plessis posted 84 runs off 56 deliveries.
Their terrific start helped RCB post 174 runs on board after 20 overs. Meanwhile, Siraj once again delivered with the new ball as the 29-year-old sent Taide packing in the first over of the second innings. Later, the ace pacer also dismissed Liam Livingstone for only two runs as the visiting side is all over PBKS in the powerplay.
Notably, Virat was once again spotted celebrating in an aggressive manner after Harpreet Singh Bhatia was sent back to the pavilion. Siraj’s direct throw broke the stumps as Bhatia was well ahead of his crease after a miscommunication in the middle.
Meanwhile, right after the dismissal, Siraj hit the famous Cristiano Ronaldo ‘Siu’ celebration while Kohli was seen pumped up and running in joy. Notably, the 34-year-old was fined 10% of his match fees for celebrating in an aggressive manner earlier in the IPL 2023.
Coming to his batting, there has been a lot of talk about his strike rate as Harsha Bhogle and Simon Doull previously stated that the cricketer needs to accelerate well to help his team get a good start in the powerplay. However, in the match against PBKS, Kohli played to his merit and registered his fourth half-century in the ongoing season.
The top-order batter also completed 6500 runs in T20 cricket as captain. With Faf du Plessis not 100% fit, RCB management decided not to risk him while fielding and thus, Kohli returned as RCB’s captain after almost two years. With that, his aggressive nature on the field also seems to be back.
