Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan had a cheeky banter during the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Bengaluru on March 27. RCB, led by Faf du Plessis opened their account in the ongoing competition, winning the game by four wickets.

On the first ball of the seventh over of the second innings, Kohli faced a delivery by Harpreet Brar towards the covers and took a single. Upon reaching the non-striker's end, the PBKS skipper seemed to have said something to him, and Kohli gave a replied in a hilarious manner.

Senti Kyu Ho Raha Hain? Kya Ho Gaya? (Why are you getting sentimental? What happened?),” Kohli was heard as saying in a video that is doing the rounds on social media.

Kohli, DK, Lomror shine during for hosts in season's first win

Speaking of the game, after being put to bat first, Punjab scored 176 runs in allotted overs. Virat Kohli showcased his batting prowess, and led the charge for RCB during the chase, scoring a gritty knock, scoring crucial 77 runs in the 49 balls he faced. The star batter was eventually dismissed by ex-RCB teammate Harshal Patel. Thereafter, veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik (28* off 10) and Impact Substitute Mahipal Lomror (17* off 8) played late cameos and guided the hosts to cross the line with four balls to spare.

Following the game, Punjab skipper Shikhar Dhawan reflected on their missed chances which led them to a loss. It is worth noting that Kohli was dropped on 0 by keeper Jonny Bairstow and Dhawan believes that they had to face the consequences of dropping the costly take of Kohli.

“Virat scored 70-odd runs, and we dropped the catch of a class player and paid the price. If we had taken that catch, the momentum would have come from the second ball. But we lost the momentum over there and paid the price for that,” Dhawan said.

He went on to say that he was happy with the innings (45 runs off 37 balls) he had played, while also acknowledging that he was not impressed with the strike rate (121.62).

“I think we were 10-15 less. (We) Should have encashed in the first six overs. I was happy with my runs, but I think I could've played faster in the first six (overs),” he added.
