Team India completed a thumping victory over the Netherlands in their second group stage encounter of the T20 World Cup 2022, played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on October 27 (Thursday). Batters Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav were simply excellent with the bat as they completed their respective fifties. 

Speaking about the game, India won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first. However, they started poorly as opener KL Rahul was sent back to the pavilion within the field restrictions. The skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli then formed a vital partnership for the Men in Blue. 

Rohit was more of an aggressor between the two batters as he completed his fifty in just 35 balls, but he got out while trying to accelerate the Indian innings. After the fall of Rohit, Kohli was joined by Suryakumar and both of them took on the Netherlands bowling attack. 

While Kohli stroked 62* runs in just 44 balls, Suryakumar remained unbeaten for his 51 runs in 25 balls as the batting team reached 179 runs in their allotted 20 overs. 

Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin damaged the Netherlands batting order

Chasing a big total of 180 runs, the Dutch side had a poor start as they lost two key wickets inside the field restrictions. Team India continued to take crucial wickets as batters Bas de Leede, Colin Ackermann, Tom Cooper and the skipper Scott Edwards failed to get going with the bat. After the fall of their premier batters, it was all over for the Netherlands. 

In the end, the Dutch side managed to score only 123 runs in their allotted 20 overs. For India, Pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh grabbed two wickets each. Express pacer Mohammed Shami also got one wicket. However, the real damage was done by the spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel who also took two wickets each in their respective four over quotas.
