Yuzvendra Chahal's competitive edge during matches contrasts with his off-field persona, characterized by genuine kindness and humility, garnering him widespread admiration among fans and peers alike. He is acknowledged for baffling the best of batters in the world of cricket with his spin bowling abilities. However, the diminutive cricketer was recently on the receiving end as wrestler Sangeeta Phogat hoisted him onto her shoulders and spun him around.

At the wrap-up event of the hit dance reality show, 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa', Chahal and Phogat shared a heartwarming moment. A viral video capturing Phogat playfully carrying the leg-spinner on her shoulders has captured the attention of social media users, receiving an outpouring of love from sports enthusiasts.

For the unversed, Chahal's wife, Dhanashree Verma, is among the five finalists on the show. She entered the competition as a wildcard. Meanwhile, Phogat was also a part of the show before being eliminated. Chahal voiced his support for his wife during various episodes of the show and their love for each other made for some of the most adorable and charming segments.

Here's Chahal and Phogat's hilarious video:

Yuzvendra Chahal failed to get into BCCI's central contracts list

The seasoned campaigner who made his debut for the Indian LOI setup oin 2016 has represented India in 72 ODIs and 80 T20Is. He has picked up 121 wickets in ODIs at an average of 27.13 and 96 wickets in T20Is at an average of 25.09. Chahal's last international appearance came in August 2023 in the five-match T20I series against the West Indies which occurred in the United States.

India have backed young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi in their recent white-ball assignments. Chahal is putting in the hard yards in domestic cricket to get his place back in the side, and represented his state team Haryana in the previous edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 8 matches, scalping 18 wickets at an average of 14.83. He was recently left out of the BCCI central contracts list, and responding to that development, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra stated that it was an indication that the selection committee was looking beyond him.

"I am a bit surprised that Yuzi Chahal's name is not there. Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, and Shikhar Dhawan - their names not being there, I can understand. Even Deepak Hooda for that matter. But Chahal's name not being there - what does that signify? It seems to indicate that they (BCCI) are looking in a different direction. This is a validation of the theory. He might have had a ray of hope, but it wasn't to be. His name is not there," said Chopra on his YouTube channel.

Chahal will look to put on a strong show in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. With the T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled to be held in June, a noteworthy performance in the marquee league could bring the senior pro back into the scheme of things and put him contention for being included in the 15-man squad.
