South Africa might have dominated Sri Lanka in the series thus far. They have a 2-0 lead but there are quite a few questions that the series scoreline doesn’t reflect. Their batting has been a huge matter of concern for the Proteas. Other than Quinton de Kock and Faf du Plessis, no one has really stepped up. After the initial sparks, Rassie van der Dussen also has been muted in the last two encounters.

They will need to address the batting issues soon as there isn’t much time left for the World Cup 2019. Their bowling attack, though, is terrific as usual. Led by Kagiso Rabada, they bundled Sri Lanka out for just 138 runs in the 2nd ODI. With the opposition looking extremely weak, South Africa enter into the third ODI as the favourites. They will want to seal the series in this game itself.

Pitch and Conditions

On a good batting track at Centurion, both the teams struggled to put up big totals. Now the action shifts to Kingsmead at Durban for the third ODI. The last time an ODI game was played here, Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed made racist comments and got suspended. It isn’t the best of pitches to bat on and there is a lot of assistance for the pacers. Batsmen have to dig in deep if they are to put up a big total. There is rain predicted throughout the day tomorrow and it wouldn’t be a surprise if the game is washed out.

Team Combinations

South Africa

South Africa might not make any changes to their playing eleven for the upcoming game. They will only test their bench only they have the series in hand. Reeza Hendricks needs to deliver a big knock for the team. Quinton de Kock and Faf du Plessis have been in superlative form. It is important for them to convert their scores into the triple digits.

Predicted XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Duessen, Faf du Plessis (c), David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, Wiaan Mulder, Kagiso Rabada, Imran Tahir, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka could make one change to their eleven. Isuru Udana is expected to be picked instead of Vishwa Fernando. The latter has leaked a lot of runs in the first two matches and the South African batsmen were quite comfortable facing him. Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis will have important roles to fulfil with the willow in hand.

Predicted XI: Avishka Fernando, Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Kusal Perera, Oshada Fernando, Kusal Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva, Thisara Perera, Akila Dananjaya, Lasith Malinga (c), Isuru Udana, Kasun Rajitha.
