West Indies legend Chris Gayle has joined St Kitts & Nevis Patriots for the inaugural 6IXTY season. Gayle is also the brand ambassador of this new innovative tournament which starts on 24 August. Patriots have also roped in star West Indies players Evin Lewis and Andre Fletcher. South African youngster Dewald Brevis and star all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius also join Gayle at the Patriots.

Trinbago Knight Riders, owned by Knight Riders Group, are looking very strong with the signing of Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell. All four players are proven T20 specialists and make Knight Riders favourites to win the first edition of 6IXTY. Both Narine and Russell play for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.

Barbados Royals, owned by the owners of IPL 2022 finalists Rajasthan Royals, have signed star all-rounders Jason Holder and Kyle Mayers. Holder was recently relieved from his captaincy duties by the franchise’s T20 management and replaced by South African batter David Miller. West Indies pacer Obed McCoy, who also plays Rajasthan Royals, also joins the Royals squad. The Royals have signed overseas players Harry Tector, Azam Khan, and Corbin Bosch.

The Jamaica Tallawahs are also looking very strong with Rovman Powell, Brandon King, and Fabian Allen in their squad. They have also signed an exciting spin prospect Sandeep Lamicchane, who captains Nepal. Mohammad Amir and Australian all-rounder Chris Green are the other two overseas signings for the Jamaica Tallawahs.

Guyana Amazon Warriors have signed the big-hitter Shimron Hetmyer and star wicketkeeper batter Shai Hope. Odean Smith and Romario Shepherd also join the squad with Keemo Paul. In overseason signings, they have Colin Ingram, Paul Stirling, and South African wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen. Saint Lucia Kings have managed to sign star pacer Alzaari Joseph and Roston Chase for the first edition of the 6IXTY tournament.

6IXTY Rules:

The 6IXTY is a 10-over format but has very different rules compared to other T10 competitions. Each innings has only six wickets and bowlers will bowl back-to-back five overs from each end, instead of changing it after each over. Teams can win another powerplay over if they hit two sixes in the first powerplay overs.

One fielder will be removed for the final over if the bowling side fails to finish an innings in 45 minutes, so there will be only 10 fielders on the pitch. 6IXTY also introduces a new ‘Mystery Free Hit’ feature, in which fans can vote on the app and the batter can not be dismissed on that delivery.
