The Sri Lanka selectors have gone ahead and named a 15-man squad that will face-off against the Proteas in the upcoming five-match series that begins on the 29th of July in Dambulla. The Lankans recently completed a 2-0 clean sweep against the Faf du Plessis-led South African unit in the Test series.

The recently-concluded series saw spin take centerstage as the Lankan spinners simply dominated the Proteas batsman. They simply had no answer for the bowling prowess of Rangana Herath and Dilruwan Perera. Luckily for du Plessis, it is clear that they would not be worried about these two spinners since they have availed themselves for Test match selection exclusively.

Angelo Mathews returns to the side and has been named captain as well with the likes of Dinesh Chandimal on the sidelines still serving the ban. Prabata Jayasuriya, the spinner who performed reasonably well in the domestic circuit has been named in the side too. Lakshan Sandakan, the left-arm spinner and Akila Dhananjaya will be present in a support capacity.

The ODI side looks a lot better at the moment with the likes of Kusal Perera and Thisara Perera entering the side. On paper, they seem the stronger of the two sides. Jeffrey Vandersay, who reportedly sent back home a few days back is in the squad in a standby capacity.

Here is the squad list:

Angelo Mathews (C), Kusal Perera, Dasun Shanaka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Kusal Perera, Kusal Mendis, Niroshan Dickwella, Thisara Perera, Suranga Lakmal, Lahiru Kumara, Kasun Rajitha, Akila Dhananjaya, Prabata Jayasuriya, Lakshan Sandakan, Shehan Jayasuriya.

Standbys: Dimuth Karunaratne, Isuru Udana, Nishan Peiris, Jeffrey Vandersay
