Bangladesh thrashed Sri Lanka by 163 runs in the ongoing tri-series on the back of all-round performance by Shakib Al Hasan. The left-handed veteran scored an enterprising 67 off just 63 deliveries coming in to bat at number 3 for his team. Then he scalped three wickets with his wily spin bowling and returned with the figures of 3/47. This is not the first time that he led his country to a resounding victory. He has achieved the double of a half-century with the bat and multiple wickets in the same ODI as many as 19 times.
Bangladesh has been blessed to have the player like Shakib at their disposal for such a long time in the game of cricket. The way he has been carrying the burden of the responsibility on his shoulders all over the years is absolutely magnificent as he is treated as one of the great all-rounders in World cricket. However, he is second in this unique list and will soon reach to the top if he continues in the same vein in the near future.
Jacques Kallis tops the charts
Jacques Kallis has achieved the magnificent double of a fifty and multiple wickets in 23 ODIs, only four times greater than Shakib Al Hasan. The legendary all-rounder was the key asset for South Africa until he played as he used to contribute to team’s cause a lot of times in both ODI and Test formats. Sanath Jayasuriya is third, in this case, to have achieved the rare feat in 16 matches in his illustrious limited-overs career.
Shahid Afridi has to be on the charts when it comes to one of the best all-rounders the World cricket has ever seen. he represented Pakistan for more than 15 years and managed such a double as many as 15 times. The most surprising name though is of Sachin Tendulkar who has done this in 11 games of his ODI career. Interestingly, he has bowled India to some of the memorable victories in his 24-year career.
