More than six months after India returned home as World Cup runners-up to the unprecedented hype, the Mithali Raj-led squad were set to play their next international match in South Africa. The three-match One Day International series was a part of the ICC Women’s Championship to qualify for the next World Cup. The opener of the series took place earlier today at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley.

While India won the match, its senior-most cricketer, Jhulan Goswami achieved a unique feat. The 35-year old became the first woman cricketer to claim over 150 scalps while scoring more than 1000 runs in the white-ball format.

Goswami is one of the pivotal members of the amazingly talented Indian squad. Although not very strongly built, she bowls with a smooth, easy run-up and has been the lead strike bowler for the Indian squad. Heralded as one of the fastest female bowlers in the world,  constantly hitting the 120kph mark, she is notorious for generating movement off the pitch when she lands the ball on the seam.

Goswami is closely followed by Australia’s Ellyse Perry and Indies cricketer Stafanie Taylor. Perry, who is the youngest Australian ever to play international cricket, has been considered a bright prospect ever since her foray. She made her debut against New Zealand in July 2007, before her 17th birthday, despite never having played a domestic match at the senior level. The 27-year-old has enjoyed a stellar rise and has taken on the role of pace spearhead in the Australian bowling attack.

Jamaican-born Stafanie Taylor went on her first cricket tour as a 10-year old. Though also a talented footballer, she chose cricket because she figured she “could travel the world more by playing cricket than football.” In 2013 she became the only player in history, male or female, to ever achieve the number one ODI ranking in both batting and bowling simultaneously.

Given below is the stats of women cricketer with over 1000 runs and 100 wickets in Women’s ODIs
