Stats: Most fifty-plus scores in Indian Premier League

The Indian Premier League has seen many batsmen dominate the bowlers over the years and put up huge scores on the board. But among all of those batsmen, few have them have been consistent over the years, which has helped their respective franchises reach heights.

As far as the number of 50+ scores is concerned, it is the Australian left-handed batsman David Warner who tops the list. The current Sunrisers Hyderabad captain put up a wonderful show with the bat last year, which helped his franchise win the trophy for the first time. Warner has been carrying his good form into this year’s edition too, as he struck a half-century in the second match this year which takes his tally of 50+ scores to 35.

Warner is closely followed by Gautam Gambhir, who has led his franchise Kolkata Knight Riders to victory two times in the Indian Premier League. Gambhir has been in scintillating form this year as he has shown his class with the bat opening for the Knight Riders. Gambhir has hit two half-centuries in this year’s edition as his team has managed two victories in the three matches he has played. Gambhir’s is in the second position with 33 50+ scores to his name.

Virat Kohli, after missing the initial few matches of the IPL due to the shoulder injury which he picked up against the Australians, came back to form playing unbelievably well against the Mumbai Indians today. He went past Mumbai Indians’ Rohit Sharma, who has 30 50+ scores to his name. The 28-year-old scored a blistering 62 of 47 balls hitting the ball all around the park which helped his team post a total of 142 on the board. The right-handed batsman now has 31 50+ scores and sits at the third position eclipsing the Mumbai Indians captain.
