Stats: Players fastest to complete 100 Test dismissals as wicketkeepers

Quinton de Kock has bagged a few one handed stunners during the ongoing England-South Africa Test series and he continued it in the final Test match at Old Trafford as well. On the first day of the 4th Test, de Kock dived towards his right to send back England’s No.3 Tom Westley for 29. This catch was the 100th dismissal of de Kock’s Test career as a wicketkeeper.

Thus, he became the 4th South African and the 42nd player to complete 100 dismissals as a wicketkeeper in the Test cricket. De Kock, who was playing his 23rd Test has featured in 22 of them including the ongoing Old Trafford Test as a keeper. Thus he equalled Adam Gilchrist’s record for being the fastest to complete 100 Test dismissals as a keeper. Both the left-handers needed 22 Tests for the milestone.

South Africa’s Mark Boucher, who affected the most number of dismissals among keepers in Test cricket, stands behind Gilchrist and de Kock in the list as he needed 23 Test matches to register as many wickets.

In terms of innings, England’s 1st inning of the ongoing game is the 39th inning in Test format in which de Kock featured in as a wicketkeeper and became the quickest to affect 100 Test dismissals as a keeper in terms of innings. The previous fastest was Gilchrist (43) who needed 4 more outings than de Kock.
