Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar is known for using his words very wisely. Recently, he was asked a question on the coaching role of the Indian cricket team. While many people have often cited that the position of the head coach of the India team as the most coveted job, Gavaskar seems to be least interested in taking it ever.

During the pre-match show of the India v New Zealand T20I at Trivandrum, a fan asked if Gavaskar would take the job of the head coach of the Indian team, if an opportunity ever comes his way. The witty Sunil Gavaskar was quick to reply back saying that he will never take that job up. The reason that he gave would certainly amuse everyone. He mentioned that the coach has to watch each and every ball of the match and he certainly hinted that he does not have enough patience to do so.

All the people present in the studio when Gavaskar gave the answer ended up being all smiles on the response. Former cricketers Aakash Chopra, Scott Styris and anchor Mayanti Langer were present in the studio room with Gavaskar when the question was asked.

On serious grounds

Meanwhile, on serious grounds, Sunil Gavaskar was recently seen backing the former Indian captain MS Dhoni. After India’s defeat in the previous T20I, many pundits ended up blaming MS Dhoni for the defeat. Some big names like VVS Laxman and Ajit Agarkar ended up saying that Dhoni should retire from the shortest format of the game.

Gavaskar gave a fitting reply to all such claims citing that the entire blame should not come on Dhoni. He rightly mentioned that the people tend to find mistakes with the cricketers aging over 30. He cited the example of Hardik Pandya getting dismissed cheaply in the same game, yet escaping unscathed from the harsh critics.
