Pakistan annihilated Scotland by 72 runs to enter the semifinal stages of the tournament on an unbeaten note. Chasing a target of 190 set by the Pakistan side, Scotland could only muster a total of 117/6.

Richie Berrington was the top scorer for Scotland and helped himself to 54*. But then, none of the other Scotland batters lent support to Berrington. With the ball, Shadab Khan scalped 2 wickets, while Hasan Ali, Haris Rauf, and Shaheen Afridi picked up a wicket each.

Babar Azam top-scored for Pakistan with a superb 66. After that, Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik destroyed the Scotland bowling attack. While Hafeez scored 31 off 19 deliveries, Malik went totally berserk, and plundered 54* at a strike rate of 300, as Pakistan put up a mammoth total of 189/4 on the board.

Chris Greaves was the pick of the bowlers for Scotland and scalped 2 wickets. With this win, Pakistan consolidate their position at the top of the table while Scotland are placed at the last spot.

New Zealand thrash Afghanistan by 8 wickets to book semifinal berth

The New Zealand side produced a clinical performance with both bat and ball to beat Afghanistan by 8 wickets. Batting first, the Mohammad Nabi-led side posted a total of 124/8 on the board. Najibullah Zadran top-scored for Afghanistan with a superb 48-ball 73.

None of the other Afghanistan batsmen even crossed the 20-run mark, and as many as 6 Afghanistan willow wielders did not even score in double figures. Trent Boult was the pick of the bowlers for the Kiwis and scalped 3 wickets.

In reply, Kane Williamson and Devon Conway made sure that the Black Caps strolled past the target with ease. The Williamson-Conway duo put on an unbeaten match-winning partnership of 68 runs for the third wicket to seal the job for their side. With this win, New Zealand has moved to second place in the points table and booked their spot in the semifinal, while the Afghanistan side is placed at the 4th spot and is out of the tournament.
