South African chinaman bowler Tabraiz Shamsi who was a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Vivo IPL 10 is set to leave for South Africa midway through the season. Shamsi hasn’t featured in any of RCB’s matches in this edition so far and has been benched for all the 9 matches the franchise has played in the tournament. The unorthodox bowler bagged 3 wickets in 4 matches last year and was a replacement for the injured Samuel Badree who has been preferred ahead of him so far in the tournament.

Taking to his Instagram handle, Shamsi stated that he will be returning to Johannesburg tomorrow morning. The left-arm spinner expressed his disappointment at leaving India but was pretty happy with the support and love showed by the Indian people. He is also expecting to be back for the next year.

“Really sad to be leaving India. People in India have been really awesome. Lots of love and support, and hopefully I can be back next year for the IPL. I really appreciate the passion people have here. Can’t thank the guys of Bengaluru enough. Going to miss this place a lot”, Shamsi said.

The left arm spinner hasn’t been named in the Champions Trophy squad in favour of rookie spinner Keshav Maharaj. He is popular for his bus drive celebration, a little celebratory jig which he does after picking a wicket. Last year he executed this steps with Chris Gayle, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli.

The unorthodox spinner considers Brad Hogg as his idol. He finished as the leading wicket-taker for St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the previous Caribbean Premier League. He made his ODI debut in January last year followed by his only Test against Australia in November 2016.

Meanwhile his franchise in the IPL, Royal Challengers Bangalore is having a horrendous time in the ongoing season so far winning only 2 out of the 9 matches. Unless they win everything from now, there is no chance of their qualification for the playoffs.
