Another day and another special knock from Dinesh Karthik! The veteran wicketkeeper-batter is making some statement in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. He made an absolute mockery of Delhi Capitals bowlers and slammed his maiden half-century of the season. Overall, he scored an unbeaten 66 off just 34 deliveries as Royal Challengers Bangalore posted 189/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
Notably, RCB were in a spot of bother when Karthik arrived in the middle. DC bowlers brilliantly operated with the new ball as the likes of Anuj Rawat, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli couldn’t do much. While Glenn Maxwell did score a fiery half-century, his 55-run knock came to an end in the 12th over. At this point, RCB were reeling at 92/5 and DC looked firmly in command.

However, Karthik then joined forces with Shahbaz Ahmed and the duo gave DC bowlers a tough time. The wicketkeeper-batter paced his innings to perfection as he was watchful initially before going all out. From Mustafizur Rahman to Kuldeep Yadav, several DC bowlers faced Karthik’s wrath at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. As a result, RCB put up a formidable score despite a top-order failure.
Meanwhile, Karthik has been phenomenal throughout this season. So far, he has scored 197 runs in six matches with his strike rate being in excess of 200. Moreover, he has been dismissed just once so far and the same shows Karthik has been destructive but careful at the same time. As the 36-year-old played yet another stellar knock, Twitter went in a frenzy as praises poured in from different corners.
A section of fans even urged the BCCI selectors to include Karthik in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2022, which will take place later this year in Australia. Notably, the veteran batter, who made his last international appearance in 2019, has expressed his desire of making a comeback in the national team. As he is now playing one fiery cameo after another in IPL 2022, ignoring him won’t be easy for the selectors.
Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitter reacted to Dinesh Karthik’s blitzes against DC:
I stand corrected: Karthik for World Cup…
Please suggest which of the batsmen should be left behind?— Vikrant Gupta (@vikrantgupta73) April 16, 2022
DK is a perfect example of how one can keep adapting your game to suit the modern needs. He has played multiple roles such as a Test Keeper,Test opener, Pure top order bat and a captain. However his most recent roles of a T20 FINISHER and that of a Commentator have been the best.

Dear @DineshKarthik … I really like your colourful shirts, how you analyse things on field and your commentary. Yet I prefer other people do commentary and see you bat. Love the way you express yourself with the bat. With clarity and smile.
