Virat Kohli has not been able to make his batting do the talking in this series. However, it did not stop the Indian skipper from dominating the news and headlines. The Indian skipper was almost on the verge of calling the Australian captain Steve Smith a “cheat” in reply to Smith’s answer of “Brain fade”.

Kohli’s recent comments on the Australian skipper claiming that a few Australian players had taken Indian physio Patrick Farhat’s name following Virat Kohli’s injury in the third Test match at Ranchi.

Australian newspaper “The Daily Telegraph” compares the Indian skipper to USA President Donald Trump.

An article from the Australian daily reads: “VIRAT Kohli has become the Donald Trump of world sport. The Indian captain is a law unto himself with no one – not even the ICC or his own board – holding him accountable for his continual perpetuation of fake news. Just like President Trump, Kohli decided to blame the media as a means of trying to hide the egg smeared right across his face.

“Like former Sri Lankan captain Arjuna Ranatunga, Kohli relies on a flagrant disrespect of his opponents and the game to fuel himself and his team. Soft cricketing administrators have given rise to a bat-wielding Trump.”

The article goes on to claim that there was no evidence regarding Kohli’s claims, with Australian skipper Steve Smith arguing that nothing of that sort had happened during the test. The Australian media have shown their frustrations on Kohli claiming that Kohli has proven that the Spirit of Cricket is “officially dead”. The daily also claims that Kohli refuses to apologise for any of the controversial claims that the skipper makes and has gone overboard against BCCI’s set boundary.

It is certainly not the first time that the Australian media have targetted the Indian captain, but it is certainly the first time that the Australian media and team have been under pressure from the aggressive Kohli. It will take some time for the Australian media to digest the actions by the aggressive Indian captain Virat Kohli.
