There is no doubt that former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is one of the most loved cricketers in the cricket-tragic country of India. The former all-rounder is one of the architects of two of the greatest days in the history of Indian cricket. Having made his debut back in 2000, Yuvraj’s penchant for performing on the big stage was pretty evident when he scored a counterattacking 80 in a crucial quarter-final encounter against the defending champions Australia in the ICC Knockout Trophy.

And, he did not stop there! Since that day in Nairobi in October of 2000 to that historic night of 2nd April 2011 when India won the fifty-over World Cup after a hiatus of 28 years, Yuvraj went on to play a key role in a plethora of heists pulled off by Team India in both forms of white-ball cricket- One-day Internationals and Twenty20s.

But at the peak of his powers, Yuvi was diagnosed with a rare germ-cell cancer and even though he made a plethora of returns to the set-up, the southpaw could never cement his place in the Indian team. The Southpaw, in a bid to pursue franchise cricket in foreign countries, announced his retirement from international cricket back in June 2019.

He has since then been pretty vocal about a plethora of things- from team selection to the yo-yo test- that led to his ouster from the Indian team in 2017. Yuvraj, who featured in the 2017 Champions Trophy was dropped after the succeeding series in West Indies on grounds of his failure to pass the yo-yo test.

“I got injured and I was told to prepare for the Sri Lanka series. Then suddenly, the yo-yo test came into the picture. It was a u-turn in my selection. Suddenly I had to go back and prepare for the yo-yo test at the age of 36. Even after I cleared the yo-yo test, I was told to play domestic cricket,” Yuvraj Singh had said to India Today then.

Since then, Yuvraj has been subtle jibes at the team-management for their approach towards finding an ideal No.4 batsman. So, when the southpaw wished Virat Kohli on his 31st birthday, fans were curious about what would Kohli reply.
