Sydney Thunder managed to make amends in the 2020-21 BBL after their 22-run defeat at the hands of Melbourne Stars. The Callum Ferguson-led unit, in their previous game, defeated the Brisbane Heat by four wickets. However, they wouldn’t have gotten over the line if not for Daniel Sams’ 25-ball 65.

It was because of his cameo that the Thunder chased down 179 with seven balls to spare. In their next game on Tuesday, December 22 against the Perth Scorchers at the Manuka Oval in Canberra, the Thunder will also have the services of Adam Milne, the only addition in their squad.

The Scorchers, on the other hand, started with a loss against the Melbourne Renegades. In their next game against the Stars, they found themselves in a commanding position before rain played spoilsport.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch in Canberra has been a sporting one thus far. The bowlers have made hay and the batters have been able to find the boundary without much fuss as well. The team batting second have gotten a bit of advantage though.

There are chances of rain in the morning, but not anywhere near match time. The temperature will be around 16 degrees Celsius with the humidity mostly in the low-40s.

Probable Top Performers for THU vs SCO

Usman Khawaja– Sydney Thunder

Usman Khawaja has plenty of experience while representing the Thunder and he hasn’t disappointed one bit. In 44 matches, the left-hander has notched 1404 runs at a strike-rate of 129.64.

The fact that he has a top score of an unbeaten 109 shows the utility he brings to the fore. He failed in the Thunder’s first two games this season and would be keen to make amends.

Colin Munro– Perth Scorchers

Colin Munro is a veteran of the T20 format, having played 272 matches in which he has notched 6,564 runs at an average and strike-rate of 29.17 and 144.16 respectively. The southpaw has four centuries and 39 fifties.

Munro got out early in the Scorchers’ first game, but he came back with 49 runs against the Stars. If the southpaw gets going then the Thunder could well end up chasing leather.
