After losing three games in a row, the Nangarhar Leopards are finally back to the winning ways. In the 11th match of the tournament, they defeated Kabul Zwanan by 15 runs. This win adds another two crucial points to the tally of the Leopards. However, they are still at the fourth position on the points table.
Rahmat Shah, who picked three wickets in the second innings was awarded the ‘Man of the Match’. With the bat in hand, it was Anton Devcich who was the star for the Leopards. He scored 77 off just 46 balls to lay a perfect foundation for a big chase.
The openers do a bulk of the scoring for the Leopards
Johnson Charles walked out to bat alongside Devcich after his team was put into bat first. He scored 43 off 27 balls as the duo added 115 runs for the opening wicket. However, they fell in quick succession and then, the middle-order ended up disappointing one and all.
While Shahidi, who was unbeaten on 29 off 23 balls, played the anchor, there wasn’t anyone at the other end who took the onus to pile on some quick runs. Skipper Ben Cutting crawled to 11 which came off 14 cherries. They had to settle with 182 runs on the board after they were looking to cross 200 at one stage quite easily.
The Rahmat – Mujeeb duo does the damage
Just like the opposition, the Kabul Zwanan openers also got their team off to a great start. Hazratullah Zazai scored 40 off 22 balls while his partner, Luke Ronchi raced to 50 off 31 deliveries. These two added 80 runs for the opening wicket.
However, the middle-order failed terribly with Rahmat Shah and Mujeeb Ur Rahman dictating terms with the ball. They picked three wickets each which completely unsettled the batting and blown them out of proportions. Other than the openers, no one else even managed to cross an individual score of 20 runs. The team eventually lost the game by 15 runs to bag their second defeat of the season.
Twitterati didn’t enjoy Rashid Khan’s team losing the match. However, they heaped praises on Anton Devcich, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rahmat Shah for their stellar shows.
Here is how Twitterati reacted:
His figures are good enough to take his team to victory and opponents to scare-ville! Congratulations on being awarded today’s man of the match, #RahmatShah #APLT20 @ACBofficials pic.twitter.com/ryQ5snWFow

Bad decision, it was the right of @BigCall13 to be the man of the match although Rahmat shah took 3 late wickets but you should have selected Anton Devcich
