The enthralling action continued in the Pakistan Super League 2023 as Multan Sultans locked horns with Karachi Kings in Match 11 on February 22.
The Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first in Multan and it seemed as if the Sultans’ openers Shan Masood and Mohammad Rizwan came set from the pavilion itself. The duo added 85 runs for the first wicket in 62 balls and got their team off to a blazing start before the partnership was broken by Shoaib Malik, who dismissed Masood for 51 off 33.
However, Rizwan looked in imperious form, stamping his authority on the opposition. He found a great partner in Rilee Rossouw and after taking some time early on, the Sultans’ captain unleashed himself on the Kings and brought up his hundred.
In reply, the Kings also got off to a magnificent start as Matthew Wade and James Vince added 72 runs for the first wicket in just 37 balls. Wade could not take his innings forward as he got dismissed by Usama Mir for 20 off 14 balls. However, Vince looked unfazed and continued to attack. He played a breathtaking knock of 75 off 34 balls before a miscommunication with Haider Ali led to his run out.
After Vince's dismissal, captain Imad Wasim took his team closer with an attacking knock. With 22 required off the last over, it seemed as if the game was over, however, the equation came down to five required off the last ball with Wasim on strike. However, he could not score a boundary off the final delivery, handing a three-run win to the Sultans.
Wasim remained unbeaten on 46 off 26 balls, while Abbas Afridi picked up two wickets for the Sultans giving away 55 runs in four overs. Ihsanullah once again shone with the ball with his economic spell of 0/17 in four overs.
