The opening Test against India at the Holkar Stadium in Indore has been equivalent to a nightmare for Bangladesh. After the second day, it would need a miracle if the Tigers make any sort of a comeback having conceded a lead of 343 runs in the first innings with three days left. For India, they haven’t allowed the visitors to get a foothold into the contest and are expected to turn the screws.

Tigers go down after good start

With India needing only 65 runs to get into a lead, the Bangladesh bowlers made a spirited start to the day. Abu Jayed Rahi nipped out Cheteshwar Pujara (54) and then pinned Virat Kohli for a golden duck. Kohli’s wicket came after Mominul Haque took the DRS. From there on, things went downhill for the visitors. Ajinkya Rahane (86) joined Mayank Agarwal (243) and they started making merry.

The duo took India to Lunch with a lead of 38 runs. In the second session, Mayank notched his century off 183 balls. In the post-Lunch session, India scored 115 runs in 30 overs to extend the lead to as many as 153. In the second over of the last session, Jayed picked up his fourth wicket, removing Rahane, who would’ve been disappointed on missing out on a century on a batting beauty.

Mayank and Jadeja steps on the gas

The stand between Rahane and Mayank produced 190 runs. From there on Ravindra Jadeja (60*) and Mayank went hammer and tongs to pile on agony for the Bangladesh bowlers. Mayank didn’t throw his wicket away and got to his second double ton in Tests off 303 balls. The Karnataka batter charged down the track to Mehidy Hasan and deposited him for a six over the wide long on region.

It was Mehidy who finally cut short Mayank’s knock. The 28-year-old’s knock was laced with 28 fours and eight sixes. After his dismissal, Jadeja took over and got to a fifty off 72 balls. Wriddhiman Saha was castled by Ebadot Hossain. Umesh Yadav (25*) opened his account with a six and didn’t die wondering. Having racked up a massive lead, India have gotten themselves on the driver’s seat.

Here is how Twitter reacted to India’s sheer domination
