A Rovman Powell special was on display in the third T20I between West Indies and England. The dasher slammed a staggering ton as the Caribbean team recorded a 20-run triumph, earning a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.  It was a high-scoring game with 428 runs being accumulated in 40 overs, the highest aggregate score in a T20I match in West Indies.

Speaking of how the clash panned out, England won the toss and opted to bowl at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. Notably, Eoin Morgan was unavailable for this clash due to fitness issues and Moeen Ali handled the charge of the Three Lions. England got off to a pretty decent start with openers Brandon King and Shai Hope managing just 10 and four runs respectively.

However, Nicolas Pooran joined forces with Powell and what followed was a big-hitting exhibition. The dashing duo slammed England bolwers for fun and gathered runs all over the park. While Pooran fell prey to Adil Rashid at 70, Powell advanced to his maiden T20I ton as the hosts posted 224/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Here are the highlights of Rovman Powell’s stellar show:

England openers Jason Roy and Tom Banton showed intent right from outset but the former perished with just 33 runs on board. However, Banton made a mark and scored a quickfire 73 before giving his wicket to Kieron Pollard. A middle-order collapse meant the visitors had no chance in the contest. Philip Salt did score a quickfire half-century, 57 off 24 balls, but his efforts could only narrow down the margin of defeat. As a result, West Indies recorded a 20-run victory.

Needless to mention, Powell was adjudged the Player of the Match. “It’s all about improvement, wrist spin was an issue for me in the past, but I went away and worked on it over the last 6-7 months. We knew Rashid was the most threatening bowler for them, was looking to get 25-30 off him, and then target the others,” said the dasher in the post-match conversation.

“There was a big side and a small side, didn’t want either two right-handers or left-handers to Rashid. Everything came off the middle of the bat today. Yes, I knew Universe Boss (Chris Gayle) and Evin Lewis (were the only ones to have scored T20I hundreds for West Indies),” he added.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitterati reacted to West Indies’ victory:
