The second last day of the group stage encounters in the Vijay Hazare Trophy witness three games from Group A where teams worked regressively with full fortitude to reach a higher stratum. However, two out of three games turned into a one-sided affair with sheer dominance shown by Odisha and Baroda. Further, the match between Karnataka and Railways involved too much firepower and managed to keep the viewers interested.

Following a superlative effort with both the bat and as well as with the ball, the Karnataka Team managed to upstage Railways in a thrilling contest which eventually helped them occupy the second spot in the table. Batting first, Karnataka got off to a decent start Mayank Agarwal and the skipper Karun Nair scored 32 runs together. However, as the partnership was building up ACP Mishra bowled a dazzling delivery which tempted Nair to go over the top, but eventually, miss timed and it went straight to Mahesh Rawat.

His departure influenced Mayank Agarwal to play a responsible inning at the top. His 89 runs off 94 balls helped Karnataka post a defendable total of 257 runs on the board. In reply, Karnataka bowlers hit the right lines which made it difficult for the opposition to play to their strengths. In lieu of that, Railways fell 16 runs short and were eventually ousted from the tournament.

Another collective top-class performance by Baroda Team helped them finish as the table toppers. Batting first, Aditya Waghmode continued his scintillating form and scored 148 runs. His blistering innings included 17 boundaries and four mighty sixes. His innings coupled with a few cameos at the top helped Baroda to post a mammoth total of 378 runs on the board. In reply, Assam Team had no answers whatsoever as they suffered a humiliating loss. Except for Parvez Aziz and Romario Sharma, each player got out for a single digit score.

Odisha Team stepped on the field to play for the pride. Playing against Haryana, Odisha players were right on top. Rajat Paliwal, the skipper of Haryana opted to bat first and one will have to say, this decision went in favour of the opposition. Deepak Behera picked 6 wickets for just 22 runs in his quota of 10 overs, which helped Odisha to wrap things in no time. In reply, Anurag Sarangi played through the innings and chased the target comprehensively.
