Chris Gayle has lightened up the Indian Premier League for the first time in 2017. After being dropped against the Rising Pune Supergiant, Gayle was back in the squad today and absolutely smashed the bits out of the opposition. Gujarat Lions who suffered a loss in the previous match wanted to get off to a good start but Gayle was standing tall in their way.

The Jamaican was outstanding today as he smashed 77 of just 38 deliveries hitting five boundaries and seven huge sixes in the process. Gayle got off to a steady start as Kohli was smashing it in the first few overs but once Gayle took over it was just raining sixes all over.

While Gayle moved towards his fifty and his now famous “Salt Bae” celebration, the man from West Indies reached a place where no other player has ever been. Gayle now has 10000 runs in T20 cricket and is the first player on the planet to explore that territory.

It is quite an achievement to reach such a milestone and that to do it at a strike rate of 149. Gayle has played only franchise cricket in recent future and was phenomenal for his team in the Big Bash League as well. It is not only the IPL where he performs but also in the leagues all around the world and that is what makes this man the first player to achieve that milestone.

There were tweets flying from all over the world for Gayle but the team owner of Royal Challengers Banglore Vijay Mallya’s tweet was the one that stood out. Mallya tweeted a congratulatory message for Gayle calling him the universe boss.

The tweet read, ”Congrats Henry Gayle @henrygayle Universe Boss for an incredible 10,000 runs in T20 cricket.”

Here is the actual tweet

Mallya was arrested on Tuesday morning in London. His arrest was a big news but only hours later he was released on bail and tweeted this congratulatory message for his destructive batter Chris Gayle.
