After uncertainty, delay, and confusion the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selectors finally sat down to pick the Indian A team for the two warm-up matches and the 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is against England. As expected Virat Kohli has been handed over the reins of the team for the ODI as well as T20I team while MS Dhoni has been named as the wicketkeeper in the squad.

Both the lead Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja against speculations of rest have been selected for both the series with Amit Mishra as the third spinner in ODIs. While the expected names featured in the team the inclusion of Yuvraj Singh in both the teams came as a surprise. Though the southpaw wasn’t in contention for the team recently; he has done well in domestic cricket and the selectors rewarded him for his performances.

In the T20I team, Suresh Raina who was selected for the New Zealand series but missed out due to an illness has once again retained his place. 19-year-old Rishabh Pant who was the star of the domestic season for Delhi has received his maiden call-up for the shortest format. He is currently playing the DY Patil T20 tournament in Mumbai and hit a scintillating knock just today scoring 43 off just 14 balls. Yuzvendra Chahal and Mandeep Singh are also a part of the team.

Old horse Ashish Nehra who had a splendid comeback to international cricket at 37 and fell to injury again is fit and thus named in the T20 team.
