Virender Sehwag differentiates Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has in just 9 years of his cricket already earned a reputation where he is the benchmark for the present generation of batsmen. The ones playing alongside him already look up to him as an inspiration and a leader across all formats of the game. No matter how much he wants to avoid it but comparisons with the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar are bound to happen.

The latter was the epitome of success as a batsman and when someone as young as 28 is on a perfect track to scale similar heights or eclipse Sachin’s records. Virat has 27 ODI and 15 Test centuries to his name and is in the purple patch for the last couple of season bettering himself and his personal best.

When former Indian opener Virender Sehwag was asked by The Ring Side View to differentiate between Sachin and Virat two players he has played along for a substantial time he said it wouldn’t be wise to equate them together as they are completely different players. Explaining Sachin and how he absolutely ruled the 22 yards he said the master was like the Lion King of the field.

“While batting with Tendulkar the thing was when you walked out on the field it felt like you were walking in the forest with a Lion. Nobody wants to come close to you neither they dare to say anything,” Sehwag said.

Virat, on the other hand, is a street smart cricketer, he reads the conditions, players and the challenge and tears his way through with his sharpness and skills. “And when you walk out to bat with Virat Kohli it is like you are going in with a Fox who is very cunning knows how to beat everyone and make his way through the forest.”

Sehwag also added that, “To compare them based on their cricketing skills is not fare both of them are really good and that is why we call Sachin the god of cricket.”
