Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has narrated an incident, involving him and the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. The duo has played a number of games together and even opened the batting for the Men in Blue. During their heydays. Sachin and Sehwag gave India flying starts on plenty of instances. Opponents used to gasp for breath when they were in the middle.

Even as Sehwag took the attacking approach, Sachin used to bide his time in the middle to get his eyes in. At times even Sachin used to play his strokes without nurturing any kind of inhibition. Sehwag talked about an incident when Sachin had predicted the outcome of a delivery.

The Nawab of Najafgarh put forth his opinions in a special episode of the Kapil Sharma show on Saturday, September 25.

Virender Sehwag goes down the memory lane

“Sachin Tendulkar was bowled out. He said I saw the [ball] as an outswing and then it came inside. So, it was not my fault, the balls were exchanged. It was a genuine reason,” Sehwag was quoted as saying

“I said only a God can see that, Tendulkar is God. More so, because this never happened in our lives,” he added.

Sehwag and Sachin batted together for the first time during a Test match against South Africa way back in November 2001. In Bloemfontein, India were tottering at 68 for four after 20.3 overs. However, Sehwag and Sachin put forth a partnership of 220 runs for the fifth wicket to bring India back into the contest.

It also happened to be Sehwag’s debut in Test cricket. The right-hander went on to score 105 runs off 173 balls with the help of 19 fours before Shaun Pollock dismissed him. Sachin notched 155 runs with 23 fours and one six, but India lost the match by nine wickets. Pollock ended up becoming the Player of the Match for his stupendous spell of bowling.

Sehwag went on to have a great Test career. In 104 matches, he scored 8586 runs at an average of 49.34 with 23 centuries and 32 half-centuries. He also scored two triple centuries against Pakistan and the Proteas at the highest level.
