Virender Sehwag urges fans to say no to plastic cups

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag is one of the most active members of the cricket fraternity on the social media. He is renowned for his timely tweets and updates. Over the last couple of years, Sehwag has managed to get a huge fan base on the micro blogging site Twitter. The fans keep anticipating updates from the former cricketer and he does not disappoint them either.

Virender Sehwag is not only an entertaining commentator when it comes to his updates on the social media, but also a very responsible citizen. On occasions, he has often come up with social messages. Recently, on June 5, the world celebrated the World Environment Day. On the occasion, Sehwag tried to do his bit for the nature’s cause. He used the social media as the ideal platform to convey a very good message.

He urged the fans to stop using the plastic cups. He remarked that the next people visit the restaurants, they should say no to the plastic cups. Instead, they should use the clay cups, popularly known as ‘Kulhad’ in the native Indian language. He cited that this will not only help the cause of the nature but also give a better taste. It is worth noting that the Kulhads do add the organic value to the taste of the contents of it. It is often recommended as the healthier option.

Here is what Virender Sehwag suggested his fans:

“Next time you go to a restaurant, please refuse plastic glasses. Use Kulhad , give up plastic. Environment bhi set, taste bhi set. #WorldEnvironmentDay,” Virender Sehwag wrote in his tweet.

Sehwag was not the only cricketer urging the fans and the masses to be eco-friendly. His former India and Delhi teammate, Gautam Gambhir also spread the same message. Gambhir, who is also very popular and highly active on the social media, spread awareness about being eco-friendly. He hoped that the people understand the importance of nature and the environment soon.
