Match Details:

The South Group game in the Vitality T20 Blast 2019 will be played between Glamorgan and Sussex at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.

The match starts at 2:30 PM local time (7:00 PM IST) (1:30 PM GMT).

Preview:

Glamorgan continues their wait for the maiden win of the T20 Blast 2019. Out of the 12 they played, eight of them were completed matches. Glamorgan lost seven of them while another game ended in a Tie. They are currently on a streak of 13 consecutive matches without a win. If they fail to win this match, it will extend their streak to 14 T20 matches; the worst streak for any County team.

They will now face Sussex on Monday who is currently on the top of the table in South Group with 17 points in 12 games. Excluding the washed-out matches, the Sussex featured in ten matches and won seven of them. Only twice they ended up losing this season while another game ended in a Tie. At least one win in their remaining two matches will help them in finishing as the toppers of the South Group.

Weather Condition/Report:

The weather in Cardiff for Monday is quite interesting. Cloudy conditions are expected for the game between Glamorgan and Sussex. However, the precipitation starts increasing from 7 PM local time; shortly after the completion of the match.

Pitch Condition/Report:

Glamorgan batted first in all four completed matches that Sophia Gardens hosted in this T20 Blast. The venue has recorded scores around and the chasing team have won none of the four. A similar trend is expected on Monday in Cardiff, where finding the straight boundaries is quite easy.

Average first innings score: 160 (Completed T20 Blast matches in 2019)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 3, Tied – 1

Injury and Availability News:

Delray Rawlins has joined the Sussex squad on Sunday.

Sussex have spoken about managing Reece Topley’s workload. Jason Behrendorff could replace him in the XI.

Probable Playing XIs:

Glamorgan:

David Lloyd, Nick Selman, Shaun Marsh, Colin Ingram (C), Chris Cooke (WK), Callum Taylor, Daniel Douthwaite, Ruaidhri Smith, Marchant de Lange, Roman Walker, Andrew Salter.

Bench: Owen Morgan, Prem Sisodiya.

Sussex:

Top Picks:

Phil Salt has a couple of low scores recently, but will still be crucial pick among Sussex players. Colin Ingram was unlucky to be dismissed runout only after facing one ball in the last game. He will hope to make it big this team and push his team into winning ways. Will Beer and Andrew Salter are a must from the bowlers’ category due to their consistency.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Captain – Laurie Evans, David Lloyd, Luke Wright

Vice-captain – David Wiese, Phil Salt, Colin Ingram

Laurie Evans has scored three 30+ scores in last three matches including an unbeaten fifty. David Lloyd is easily the best player of Glamorgan this season among the top-order.

Suggested Playing XI for Head to Head/Small Leagues:

Keeper – Chris Cooke

All-Rounders – David Wiese

Bowlers – Chris Jordan, Will Beer, Marchant de Lange, Andrew Salter

Suggested Playing XI for Grand Leagues/Mega Leagues:

Expert Advice:

Performance of Glamorgan’s players has been as poor just like their results. The senior players in their batting line-up failed to make it big. Even Shaun Marsh, who has good numbers in T20s, failed twice in as many matches. This makes a case for picking as fewer players as possible from the Glamorgan team.

Probable Winners:

Sussex could extend Glamorgan’s wait for their maiden win.
