The only way you get better after a bad day in the field is by sweating it out at the nets after the end of day’s play. India’s reliable No.3 batsman Cheteshwar Pujara did the same after being dismissed off a snorter by Australian pacer Mitchell Starc. Pujara, come came out to bat after the wicket of opener Murali Vijay, failed to score big and departed for just six runs.

He was seen using his feet to perfection against slow deliveries and middling the faster ones in the nets during the throw-down session. If the net session is anything to go by, then the Indian fans should be optimistic about the solid batter coming good in the second innings.

Australia ended day 2 with a lead of 298 runs and with six wickets in hand. Captain Steve Smith and all-rounder Mitch Marsh were at the crease unbeaten on 59 and 21 respectively at the call of stumps. Smith also crossed 1000 runs mark against India in what is only his seventh Test match against the world No. 1 side in Tests.

After the second day’s play, Steve O’Keefe shared his thoughts on an eventful day. “Everything went to plan, well backed up in the field, especially Handscomb,” he said. “And good finish to the day with the captain Steven Smith. The first six overs were ordinary. Then I got a change of ends and from there it spun a bit more.”

Indian Head Coach Anil Kumble, on the other hand, called it a bad day in the field for his boys and said there is still a lot left in the Test match. “Like you said, you are bound to have one bad day. It was disappointing. We were in a pretty decent position when (KL) Rahul and Ajinkya (Rahane) were batting out there. But once Rahul got out, we lost those four wickets in five or six balls. That certainty pushed us back. It was one of those things with a couple of soft dismissals,” said Kumble.
