The Indian limited overs Captain, MS Dhoni, is famous for his innovative Helicopter Shot. One of the toughest shots to execute, Dhoni discovered the shot and made it his own. Many players tried copying it; with some success. Everybody remembers how the axed English batsman Kevin Pietersen played his masterly version of the helicopter shot last year in the Big Bash League down under playing for the Melbourne Stars.

The stylish English batsman was at his best again when he scooped up his innovation and played the ‘Helicopter Pull Shot’ during the Ram Slam t20 semi-finals. In the process, he took his side, the Dolphins, to a victory over the Cobras.

After having won the toss, Dolphins started with a high losing their first wicket for 99 and second at 119. It was then that the big English player took the field and went on to score 27 off 10 balls hitting 2 sixes and 2 fours. During the process, when the score was 140/2 in 17.4 overs, Kevin Pietersen hit Wayne Parnell for an unusual Helicopter Pull that went flying for a six. The ball was bowled way outside off and Kevin picked it up at full at his waist height to put the ball over the boundary between square leg and midwicket.

Dolphins finished up with 178/3 and the Cape Cobras failed to chase and fell short by 5 runs, scoring just 3 in the last over of their run chase. Having won this knockout eliminator, The KwaZulu-Natal Dolphins are now into the finals of the Ram Slam T20 Challenge 2015.
