Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke had won a lot of hearts when he in association with Hublot had decided to sponsor 16-year-old Nepalese leg-spinner, Sandeep Lamichhane, to be trained at the Michael Clarke academy.
Sandeep will also feature in the 2016-17 season with Clarke’s Premier Grade Cricket Club, Western Suburbs. He idolises Former Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne. The teenager was phenomenal in the Under-19 World Cup held in Bangladesh and impressed most with his bowling.
He ended the tournament as the second leading wicket taker with 14 wickets against his name at an average of 17.07. Against Ireland, he claimed 5 wickets, which included a hat-trick as well.
The young Nepali cricketer arrived in Sydney on Monday and Clarke himself was there to receive him. Clarke posted the video on his Facebook page and the caption read – “Absolutely pumped to see my little mate arrive in Sydney! #nepalesecricket #wests.”

Clarke said that he is highly excited to have Sandeep in his academy. He also said that he will also attend the 5-day live in camp starting September 26th.
“I had recognised Sandeep’s outstanding potential during his short stint as a player an mentor in Hong Kong earlier this year. Sandeep is a fantastic young man who enjoys his cricket and is extremely passionate about the game. It is a really exciting opportunity to have such a talented Nepalese cricketer travel this distance to come and test his skills and improve his game at my academy. I am looking forward to working with him and all the boys and girls that will attend the 5-day live in camp starting September 26th.”
