Watch: MS Dhoni powers one monster six on to the roof

Rising Pune Supergiant have had a rough run in the tournament thus far. They had won their first match of the season but then saw their form dwindle. A lot of eyes were glued on veteran wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni. Dhoni, the former skipper of the franchise, had a poor run of form going into the game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at Bengaluru. There were a few who criticised the veteran superstar for underperforming.

At the same time, there were a few who spoke in defence of MS Dhoni. A valid point in the defence of MSD was that the attacking batsman just did not get enough opportunities with the bat in the season. They opined that he should be promoted up the order. Well, that is exactly what happened in the match against RCB. Dhoni was sent to bat at number 4 and a lot of hopes were banking on him.

Albeit Dhoni did not score big runs in the match, he did ensure to bag the limelight with a monstrous six. He clobbered Yuzvendra Chahal for a maximum that ended up on the roof of the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The action perspired in the 14th over of the Rising Pune Supergiant innings. On the last ball of the over, Chahal tossed one up to MS Dhoni.

Dhoni danced down the track just the way he used to do during his early days in cricket. He made a sweet contact with the ball and hit it straight over the park. The ball went flying over the long on region. There was absolutely nothing that could be done about the shot hit by the Dhoni. The fielders were mere spectators. Dhoni’s vintage shot went over the fences and landed on the rooftop of Chinnaswamy Stadium.
