Watch: The Wankhede crowd sings the birthday chorus for Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar celebrated his 44th birthday on April 24th, 2017 and his old franchise of IPL, Mumbai Indians played the game against Rising Pune Supergiant at the Wankhede Stadium on the same day. The legendary Indian batsman was present on the ground with the team and the crowd went absolutely berserk after watching their favorite hero.

It was an iconic moment in Mumbai as the 35,000 people present in the stands sang the “Happy Birthday” song together to wish the Master Blaster. Gaurav Kapur posted a video on Twitter in which the whole stadium can be heard going crazy for Sachin.

The Wankhede crowd has always been very passionate for Sachin. Each time the master stepped onto the field, the crowd was right behind him chanting “Sachin Sachin”. It was a great moment for thousands of people to witness him live on the occasion of his birthday.

It was the breeding ground for Sachin during his childhood days. He played numerous matches in his early days and is familiar with every inch of the Wankhede. More often than not, he had played some outstanding innings at the venue.

It was the same venue where India had won the World Cup in the year 2011 that was the last for the great man. His dream of lifting the coveted trophy was fulfilled at the same place after which he was carried on the shoulders by his teammates for a victory lap. It was an emotional moment for him as well as the city that had stood behind him for so many years.

When Sachin decided to hang up his boots from international cricket, fittingly, he chose his home ground to play his last Test match. The whole stadium was ready to bid goodbye to its icon and everyone in the stands had their eyes wet after Sachin made the final walk back.

Years after the retirement, he still gets the same love and the same cheers from the crowd every time he is at the venue. The birthday wishes for him are a sign that the love for Sachin will never go down.
