The 38th week of 2017 saw the India-Australia ODI series get underway and also the ODI series between England and Windies which, was affected by the rain. Afghanistan’s T20 league, the Shpageeza Cricket League came to an end during this week, and the Band-e-Amir Dragons emerged victorious.

Here we look at the major records and stats created during the 38th week of 2017.

3 – Kuldeep Yadav became only the 3rd Indian to take a hat-trick in ODI cricket during the 2nd ODI against Australia. He is also the first Indian to take an ODI hat-trick after 26 years.

4 – Number of Knights’ batsmen who scored centuries in their 1st innings against Cape Cobras in the Sunfoil Series game. This is the first instance in South African franchise cricket where four players scored centuries in the same innings and the 4th such instance in South African first-class cricket.

5 – Number of times Virat Kohli has been dismissed in the 90s in ODI cricket; the 2nd most by any player in this format since 2010. Kane Williamson six times while Glenn Maxwell and Kumar Sangakkara have been dismissed four times each in the 90s during this period. Kohli was dismissed on 92 in the 2nd ODI game at Kolkata against Australia.

5 – Kohli became only the 2nd captain after Ricky Ponting to scale eight and more consecutive ODI wins on three different occasions. India’s win in the 2nd ODI was Kohli’s 8th consecutive win since the Windies tour in this format.

8 – Kumar Sangakkara has scored eight centuries in a span of 11 innings in first-class cricket. He accomplished this feat while playing the County Championship for Surrey. Only three other players have scored eight tons across 11 FC innings.

11 – The India-Australia 2nd ODI turned out to be India’s 11th consecutive win under Virat Kohli’s captaincy which is the longest winning streak in International cricket for India under any captain. MS Dhoni had registered nine consecutive International wins in 2013.

18y 8d – Chris Gayle’s ODI career is spanned across 18 years and 8 days. He is the first player from Windies and the 10th overall to have an ODI career lasting over 18 years. Marlon Samuels’ ODI career of 16 years and 350 days is the 2nd longest among West Indians. Gayle featured in the 1st ODI against England; his first ODI since the CWC 2015 quarter-finals against New Zealand.

19y 2d – Rashid Khan became the youngest player to captain a team and also lead them to victory in a Twenty20 final. He led his Band-e-Amir Dragons team to victory in the Shpageeza Cricket League.

281/7 – India’s total of 281 in the first ODI against Australia is the 2nd highest for any team after losing their 3rd wicket for 11 or fewer runs. Australia scored a mammoth 368/5 from 10/3 against Sri Lanka in 2006. India posted 280/7 against Zimbabwe in 2004 after being 4/3 at one stage.

300 – The 2nd India-Australia ODI was the 300th ODI MS Dhoni played for India. He featured in three ODIs for Asia XI. He became the 19th player to feature in 300 ODIs for a team.
