The 39th week of 2017 was a treat for the cricket fans where the Test series between Pakistan-Sri Lanka and South Africa-Bangladesh began and were played alongside the ODI series’ between India-Australia and England-Windies. In addition to this, the domestic tournaments of India, Pakistan and Australia added some more flavour to the game.

Here we look at the major records and stats created during the 39th week of 2017.

0 – Number of players before Washington Sundar who have scored 100+ runs and taken 10+ wickets in a first-class match prior to turning 18. Sundar scored 130 runs and picked 11 wickets in the Duleep Trophy final. He is also the youngest to score a half century and pick a 5-wicket haul in a DT game.

3 – The England-Windies 4th ODI is only 3rd instance where a team lost an ODI despite their players recording an individual century and a five-wicket haul. Windies lost in 1991 as well against Pakistan at Sharjah while Australia lost to South Africa in the famous Johannesburg ODI in 2006.

17y 320d – Prithvi Shaw became the youngest Indian player to score a century in a first-class tournament final with the 154, he scored in Duleep Trophy final. He is the 2nd youngest to score a hundred in a first-class tourney final after Javed Miandad.

8 – With the century in the Bangalore ODI, David Warner became only the 8th player and the first Australian to score a century in his 100th ODI game. His 124-run knock is the 3rd highest individual score for a player in his 100th ODI.

8/39 – Shaheen Shah‘s bowling figures during the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy for Khan Research Laboratories on his first-class debut. These are the best bowing figures for any Pakistani on FC debut overhauling Nadeem Malik’s 8/58 in 1973/74.

9 – The Indore ODI was the 9th consecutive win for India in ODIs which is the joint-longest streak for them in this format. India won nine consecutive ODI games between 2008 and 2009.

9 – Virat Kohli became the 3rd Indian captain to win 9 consecutive ODI matches. Rahul Dravid won nine in a row in the first half of 2006 while MS Dhoni won nine consecutive ODIs in 2008/09.

17 – Shai Hope became the first player to score double-digit scores in each of his first 20 ODI innings. He broke the record of Michael Bevan (19) for most consecutive innings with double-digit scores from debut during the 5th ODI against England.

91 – Innings Joe Root needed to complete 4000 runs in ODI cricket. He is the 3rd fastest to reach the milestone after Hashim Amla (81) and Viv Richards (88).

27 – Matches Yasir Shah needed to complete 150 wickets in Test cricket. He is the joint 2nd fastest to complete the milestone and the quickest among spinners.

28 – Number of sixes both the teams collectively plundered during the 3rd ODI between England and Windies. These are the 4th most number of sixes recorded in an ODI and the most in an ODI in England. The Oval ODI in 2015 between England and New Zealand witnessed 27 sixes.

36 – Innings Virat Kohli needed to complete 2000 ODI runs as captain. He became the quickest to the milestone breaking AB de Villiers’ record (41 innings). Kohli completed the milestone during the 4th ODI against Australia.

43 – Number of sixes that were hit on September 24 across both the ODI matches played. These are the 2nd most number of sixes recorded in a single day in ODI cricket.

53 – Moeen Ali’s 53-ball century in the 3rd ODI against Windies is the 2nd fastest for England in ODI cricket. Jos Buttler’s 46-ball century against Pakistan in 2015 is the fastest ODI hundred for the Brits.

53 – Number of sixes Rohit Sharma has clobbered against Australia in ODIs. He is the first Indian to hit 50 ODI sixes against an opponent and the first to do so against Australia. His 70 sixes in International cricket against the Aussies are also the most by any player.

176* – Evin Lewis’ knock of 176* in the 4th ODI is the highest individual score in ODI cricket before retiring hurt. This is also the highest individual score in International cricket for any player before he was forced to retire hurt.

199 – Dean Elgar became the 10th player to be dismissed on 199 in Test cricket. He is the 12th player to record 199 in Test format and the first player from South Africa.

222 – Innings Joe Root needed for completing 10000 runs in International cricket. He is the 4th quickest overall and the fastest among England players to complete the 10000-run milestone in Internationals. Root completed the milestone during the 3rd ODI against the Windies.

70000 – Hashim Amla’s wicket on the 2nd day of South Africa-Bangladesh Test was the 70000th wicket to fall in the Test cricket. He was also the 60000th wicket of Test cricket and the 10000th lbw dismissal as well of this format.
