'Welcome to the club' - Ross Taylor congratulates Virat Kohli for completing 100 T20Is

Virat Kohli joined Ross Taylor in the elite list of only players who represented their nation in at least 100 games in all the formats. Against Pakistan, the former India captain played his 100th T20 International and with that, he became the second player ever to feature in the list.

The 33-year-old also became the 14th cricketer to play 100 T20 Internationals. With an average of 49.89, Virat has scored 3343 runs in the hundred T20Is that he has played. The ‘King’ of the Indian team made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe on 12th of June, 2010 and has been a consistent performer ever since. Notably, he is the third highest run-scorer in this format of the game.

The World Cup winner previously played his 100th Test match against Sri Lanka earlier in the year and played his 100th ODI against West Indies in the 2013 Champions Trophy. With an average of 57.68, Kohli scored 12344 runs in ODI so far and made 8074 runs in 102 Tests that he has played.

With a quite unique feat to his name, Virat is being praised all over the world and Ross Taylor, the only member of the club, welcomed him and congratulated him for his journey. “@virat.kohli on your 100th T20 game for India. Virat showed glimpses of his class against Pakistan in the Asia Cup

Following his poor performances in recent T20Is, Kohli was under the scanner and many fans on social media questioned his spot in the playing XI. The team management however backed him and with that, Virat once again showed his class when India took on Pakistan in their opening match of the tournament.

Kohli would have walked back to the pavilion in his second ball itself but Fakhar Zaman gave him a lifeline and Kohli took advantage of that. He looked shaky in the beginning but later played an important knock of 35 runs to put the pressure back on Pakistan. He was dismissed by Mohammad Nawaz in a similar fashion as Rohit Sharma.

The fans will certainly be hopeful especially after seeing him play a short arm jab, a shot that he is specialised in. Against Hong Kong in the next match, Kohli’s performance will once again be monitored with the T20 World Cup in mind.
