India will be taking on the West Indies in the second One Day International at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad on Sunday, July 24. While the Men in Blue would be hoping to seal the series, the hosts would be desperate to win this one and keep the series alive.

Even though India scored in excess of 300 in the opening fixture, they were given a run for their money by the opposition batters as the visitors managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat by three runs. At the same time, the Shikhar Dhawanled side need to showcase improved performances with both the bat and ball.

On an individual note, youngster Shubman Gill would be disappointed after throwing away his wicket while attempting a needless single. He had scored 64 runs off 53 balls and looked in great nick for getting a big one on his comeback.

The West Indies, on the other hand, only have themselves to blame for squandering a perfect opportunity despite being within touching distance of victory. They first managed to restrict India to 308/7 after pacer Alzarri Joseph deceived the hard-hitting middle-order duo of Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel with good deliveries in the penultimate over.

The batting was impressive courtesy of half-centuries from Kyle Mayers (75), and, Brandon King (54). In the end, even though a well-set middle-order duo of Akeal Hossain (32*) and Romario Shepherd (39*) staged an unbeaten 53-run stand for the seventh wicket, the hosts failed to get the job done.
