The second ODI between Pakistan and England is set to take place on Saturday, July 10 at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. The hosts have made a stupendous start to the series despite not having the first-choice squad.

The Three Lions took a 1-0 with a thumping one-wicket win at the Sophia Gardens. The home team bowled Pakistan out for 141 after Saqib Mahmood picked up a five-wicket haul. Dawid Malan and debutant Zak Crawley’s half-centuries helped in the run-chase.

For the visitors, barring Fakhar Zaman’s 47 and Shadab Khan’s 30, there were no contributions worth mentioning. In the second game, Pakistan are in a must-win situation and they need to bounce back to stay alive in the series.

England, meanwhile, would be looking for an unassailable 2-0 lead. The track at the Lord’s has generally been a sporting one and an exciting match seems to be in store next time.

Playing Combinations for ENG vs PAK

England

The hosts aren’t likely to tinker with their winning combination. Phil Salt failed in the previous game after he edged one to Sohaib Maqsood off Shaheen Afridi.

Crawley impressed on debut and he got the apt support from Malan, who has carried forward in his T20 form into the 50-over format as well. Their middle-order is a power-packed one as well with the likes of James Vince and Ben Stokes in it.

In the bowling department, apart from Mahmood, the others were also impressive. Brydon Carse, who made his debut, didn’t get a wicket, but he is likely to get a chance of making some amends.

Predicted XI

Phillip Salt, Dawid Malan, Zak Crawley, James Vince, Ben Stokes (C), Lewis Gregory, John Simpson (WK), Craig Overton, Saqib Mahmood, Matthew Parkinson, Brydon Carse

Bench: Tom Helm, Danny Briggs, David Payne, Daniel Lawrence, Will Jacks, Ben Duckett, Jake Ball

Pakistan

Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam bagged ducks in the previous match and would want to turn their fortunes around. Fakhar Zaman was the only top-order batter, who looked accomplished.

The left-hander scored 47 runs off 67 balls with the help of six fours before perishing to Matthew Parkinson. Shadab Khan also chipped in with a handy knock in the 30s, but he couldn’t make a breakthrough with the ball.

Afridi was sharp in the initial overs and he needs support from the other end. Haris Rauf went at over eight runs per over and he would wish to improve on his bowling figures next time.

Predicted XI

Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam (C), Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan (WK), Sohaib Maqsood, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf

Bench: Mohammad Nawaz, Abdullah Shafique, Usman Qadir, Agha Salman, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Mohammad Hasnain
