Indian fast bowler S Sreesanth must be a relieved man after his ban was reduced by the BCCI. Lifetime ban earlier was brought down to 7 years and he can resume playing cricket from September 2020. However, even before he could really enjoy this happy moment, a piece of bad news hit him on Saturday. A fire broke out in his house in Kochi at around 2 AM in the night.

While the fast bowler wasn’t at his home during this time, his wife and children were present there. The incident took place on the ground floor of the house. The hall and a bedroom were gutted in at the Edapally residence. Hence, this led to a panic situation in the family with the cricketer himself not present in the house during the incident. However, fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The firefighters rescue the family and the house help

When the fire broke out, Sreesanth’s wife and children along with two house help were on the first floor. Thus, there wasn’t much of any damage done on a human level. Neighbours informed the fire stations at Thrikakkara and Gandhinagar after watching the smoke come out of Sreesanth’s home as per the reports in the Indian Express. Furthermore, the police control room was also alerted soon after the incident.

A team of firefighters reached the house within no time and rescued everyone present. They broke the glass on the first floor of the house through the stairway to bring Sreesanth’s wife and kids out of the residence. More details are awaited on the incident but everyone was reported safe. An entire room was reportedly destroyed.

Meanwhile, Sreesanth’s ban will end in September 2020. After being off the radar for about six years now, he hopes to make a comeback to the Kerala domestic team. Apparently, he has been working on his bowling and is hitting good speeds as well. He has got one year to prepare at a professional level and gain his complete fitness back. Thus far, he has represented India in 27 Test matches. Sreesanth has picked up 87 wickets in the longest format and will fancy making it 100 if given the opportunity.
