After a resounding victory in the first match against Windies at Providence Stadium in Guyana, Bangladesh, unfortunately, couldn’t hold on to their ascendancy and slumped in the second encounter at the same venue. More than the defeat, Mashrafe Mortaza’s men would be disappointed for the reason that they allowed the home team to make a comeback after getting them by the scruff of their necks.

On the contrary, Jason Holder and Co showed grit and resilience in the crunch moments and rolled their opponents over in the last over thriller. However, apart from Shimron Hetmyer, the rest of their batsmen haven’t quite stood up to the task. With the series level at 1-1, both teams would be hoping to overpower each other in the deciding contest tomorrow at Warner Park in St Kitts.

Pitch

The pitch at the venue isn’t expected to be a bowler’s paradise, but the batsmen still have to work hard for their runs. The tracks in the first couple of matches were slow and a similar strip is speculated to be dished out. A total of 17 matches have been played at the stadium out of which 12 have been won by the team batting first. Hence, it won’t come as a surprise if the teams elect to bat first after winning the toss.

Team Combination

Windies

The Windies are unlikely to tinker much with their lineup. Gayle and Lewis didn’t score in the first two matches and they would be key to Windies’ chances of winning the series. Meanwhile, apart from Shimron Hetmyer, the other batsmen have strained to find their feet and while their bowlers have done a reasonable job thus far, the batters also need to step up and contribute their bit.

Predicted XI

Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Shai Hope (wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Mohammed, Rovman Powell, Jason Holder (C), Ashley Nurse, Keemo Paul, Devendra Bishoo, Alzarri Joseph

Bangladesh

Apart from the last few overs of the previous match, Bangladesh have more or less been impressive and they also won’t wish to make any alteration. Their batsmen have got the runs, but they also need to accelerate in the hour of need. The pace battery of Mortaza, Mustafizur and Rubel have been amongst the wickets and have to deliver the goods one last time.

Predicted XI

Tamim Iqbal, Anamul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman, Mosaddek Hossain, Mashrafe Mortaza (C), Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman

Probable top performers

Chris Gayle- Windies, Tamim Iqbal– Bangladesh

The prediction is for the team batting first to win the match and the series as well.
