Windies vs India 2019, 2nd T20I – Rohit and Kohli’s records, India’s winning streak and more stats

India sealed the 3-match T20I series against Windies as they recorded a 22-run win by DLS method in the rain-affected 2nd T20I. Rohit Sharma, who is in the form of his life, scored 67 off 51 deliveries with six fours and three maximums before getting out in the 14th over when India were 115/2.

Despite wickets in hand, India finished with 167/5 which was possible only due to a 20-run last over. Windies lost openers cheaply yet again but Rovman Powell counter-attacked with a 34-ball 54. The home team needed 70 runs from 27 balls with six wickets in hand when the play was suspended.

107 – Number of sixes Rohit Sharma has hit in T20I cricket; the most by any player in this format. He surpassed Chris Gayle (105) with 2nd of the three sixes he struck in this game.

21 – Rohit now has 21 fifty-plus scores in T20I cricket including four centuries; the most by any player. He went past Virat Kohli who has 20 such scores but the Indian captain holds the record for most fifties in T20Is as Rohit has only 17 fifties.

425 – Rohit Sharma now has scored the most runs in T20I format against the Windies. He went past Alex Hales who has 423 runs against them in 13 innings; one more than Rohit played. Rohit’s 425 runs against Windies are also the joint 6th most for any player against an opponent in T20Is.

Kohli goes past Raina

8416 – Virat Kohli is now the leading run-getter in the Twenty20 format among Indians. He went past Suresh Raina who has amassed 8392 runs in T20s till date.

10 – Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan pair now have ten fifty-plus stands between the in the T20I cricket. Kane Williamson and Martin Guptill are the only other pair with 10 or more 50+ partnerships in T20Is. The New Zealand pair have 11 fifty-plus stands in this format. Rohit-Dhawan pair also became the first T20I pair with 1500+ partnership runs during this game.

Milestone game for Narine

50 – Sunil Narine became the 8th player to feature in 50 T20Is for the Windies. He opened the innings for the Windies during this game; the first time he ever batted in top five in his T20I career.

A rare double for Krunal

3 – Number of instances of an Indian player scoring 20+ runs at a strike rate of 150+ and end up taking 2+ wickets at an economy under 7. Krunal Pandya scored 20* from 13 balls and later took 2/23 in his 3.3 overs. Yusuf Pathan against Sri Lanka in 2009 Colombo T20I and Yuvraj Singh in the 2012 Pune T20I against England achieved this double.
