Preview:

Hobart Hurricanes started the new season with a comfortable win over the Melbourne Stars. The Hurricanes got a new look to the squad with the inclusion of Fran Wilson and Chole Tryon. Fittingly, it was the partnership between the duo which made the difference in the match. Tryon struck seven boundaries on her way through to an 18-ball 46* while Wilson supported with a 23-ball 29*.

They added 63 runs for the 6th wicket in only 27 balls as they finished with 164/5 in their 20 overs. Skipper Elyse Villani bagging a golden duck stunned the Melbourne Stars who were four down inside five overs for just 36 runs. Some contributions by the middle and lower order saw the home team come close to the target but ended up with only 144/9.

Weather Condition/Report:

Not much chance of rain is expected on Sunday despite heavy clouds to be around at the Junction Oval.

Pitch Condition/Report:

There was little help for the seamers at the Junction Oval during the 2nd innings. This left the Renegades four wickets down inside powerplay. Despite the poor start, the hosts finished with 144/9 in their 20 overs chasing 164/5. This shows how good the venue has been for the second batting teams.

Average first innings score: 149 (WBBL games since 2018/19)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 4, Lost – 3
